A face on a screen,
on a head that turns
A round display is easy to buy. A round display that turns toward whoever is speaking, holds an expression through a sentence and reads as present rather than powered on — that is a mechanism, a latency budget and an animation system working together. We build that whole chain: the gimbal, the display stack, the far-field audio front end, and the expression engine that runs on top.

Face-and-head formats we build
Round screen with a turning neck, flat screen with a fixed head, or a small display on a two-axis arm: the format decides viewing angle, which decides the display spec, which decides the price. We build all three shapes.
The latency budget nobody plans for
A face that answers a second late reads as broken, and the second is spent in five places: wake-word detection, uplink, model inference, downlink, and the animation that follows. Teams usually optimise the model and ignore the other four. In practice the biggest wins are on-device endpointing, a pre-rolled animation that starts before the first word arrives, and a face that keeps breathing while it thinks — which is why we treat the animation rig as part of the latency budget rather than decoration.
Screen-face hardware in production
A face on a screen is a display problem, a gimbal problem and a thermal problem at the same time. These are the assemblies we already build; the display-and-gimbal stack is what we reuse when a client wants a different character on the same body.

Developed for your brand and channel
Desktop companion brands
A 15–20 cm desk robot whose face is the product: expression, gaze and voice as one behaviour.
Car aftermarket and accessory brands
A dashboard or console-mounted robot, developed as an aftermarket accessory with mounting and power designed for the cabin.
Smart-home and hub makers
A physical presence for an assistant that currently exists only as a voice.
IP and character licensing
Your own character’s face on a display, with an expression set authored to the style guide.
Why screen-face product teams work with us
👁️ Expression engineered as latency
The gap between the last syllable and the right expression is what makes a face feel alive — we budget it in milliseconds, not adjectives.
⚙️ A gimbal that is quiet and stays centred
Gear train, encoder and homing designed so the head does not drift, hunt or buzz when it is holding still.
🎙️ Far-field audio that works in a car
Beamforming and echo cancellation tuned for road noise and cabin reflections — the part that decides whether it hears you at 100 km/h. Quantity and price quoted per project.
Show us the face you want
A sketch of the face, the distance the user sits at, and whether the head has to turn — with those three we can spec the display, the gimbal and the animation rig, and tell you where the latency will actually come from.
Before you spec a turning-head robot
- Is NomiOem the maker of NOMI?
- No. NomiOem is an independent manufacturer in Shenzhen; NOMI is a trademark of its owner and we are not affiliated with it. We build screen-face robots with a servo gimbal for brands developing their own.
- What decides whether the head movement feels natural?
- The gimbal range, the acceleration curve, and how the screen content moves with it. A head that turns at constant speed reads as a camera; one that eases in and settles reads as attention.
- Can we use an existing body?
- For a body already in production and not committed exclusively to another channel, yes: your screen UI, voice, colours and packaging. A different head shape or a new gimbal is a development project.
